Stop phone mast at Ladye Bay Clevedon

Vodafone are trying to erect a phone mast 3 years after it was turned down for planning consent, using a technicality.

Vodafone are trying to erect a mobile telephone mast at the rear of Ladye Bay Clevedon where North Somerset Council refused planning permission three years ago.  Vodafone are apparently claiming that the Council failed to write to them within the statutory 56 day time period allowed under a general permitted development order.

The council letter was sent on the 20th of April 2006 and by normal post this letter should have been received within the 56 day period. Vodafone are quoted as saying that it was not received until the 57th day and even though they accept it was a refusal, they are insisting that they have deemed consent due to this loophole.

This is a blatant attempt to bend the rules in order to install a microwave transmitting mast within 100 meters of homes and on the corner of a footpath well used by locals and visitors to the area. It would also desecrate a beautiful scenic spot.

Please sign our petition and add your voice to this deliberate bending of the rules by a corporate giant and get them to re-site the mast in a less obtrusive place away from people’s homes and hopefully close this loophole and stop this happening again in the future.

Thank you
